Tom the Turkey Protests Thanksgiving!
It’s that time of year again! You know, Thanksgiving, the holiday that comes around once a year. It’s when we give thanks for all of our blessing, gather with family, and feast on wonderful culinary delights such as turkey and dressing. Well, Tom the Turkey has taken a hint from the Chick-Fil-A cows, and has decided that he DOESN’T want to be eaten this year. He’s come up with an ingenious idea to disguise himself so that he will not become your our anyone else’s Thanksgiving meal. He’s not too bright though, being a “bird-brain” and all, you see. He needs your help in order to come up with a clever disguise. Can you help him? He’s getting quite desperate as the days get closer to the big day.
Here’s what you can do to help Tom. Use the pattern provided by your teacher to dress/disguise your turkey. You may dress it as a doctor, astronaut, farmer, cheerleader, ballerina, etc….Be creative and use materials from home. Remember this is a disguise. You are trying to persuade people that he is NOT a turkey.
There must be a written letter or short story (no longer than 1 page) to accompany the turkey. (All writing should be visible from the front, as these will hang in the halls.) THIS PROJECT WILL BE GRADED, AND IS A REQUIREMENT. A writing, grammar, and science grade will be given. Teachers will look at effort, creativity, neatness, grammar, and spelling. The written component will count for 40% of the grade, while the project itself will count for 60%. Each homeroom will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for a small prize. Parents, supervise, but PLEASE this is your 4th grader’s project, and he or she should do the work. Your guidance and input is appreciated and appropriate for this project.
Have fun with this, and let’s see some fabulous disguises!!!
