About the Teacher/Welcome Msg
After spending 3 years as a teacher's assistant, I made the decision to return to school to pursue my Education degree. I graduated from the University of Mississippi in May of 2013, and I am EXCITED to be your child's teacher this year! I have taught 3rd grade for three years and this is my third year in 4th grade!
I am a proud life-long Desoto County resident. I graduated from Horn Lake High School in 1992. My husband, Jim, and I have been married for almost 20 years and live in Nesbit, MS. We have two sons. Owen is a sophmore and Connor is a junior, both at DCHS. My family and I are huge Memphis Grizzlies fans and enjoy going to Grizz games. We also support The University of Memphis basketball and football. I love to read and spend time with my family and friends.
It is my desire that your child learns more from my classroom than just academics. In our classroom, we are a team. We will work together, support each other, and above all else, WE WILL BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER! On the academic side, I expect 100% effort each and every day. Our class moto: If you don't have time to do it right, you must have time to do it over! I will work hard all year to instill a good work ethic in my students. It's going to be a fantastic year!

Please familiarize yourself with policy changes on absences and early checkouts.
Checkouts after 2:00 will not be excused unless accompained by a doctor's note.
Work will not be made up for excessive unexcused checkouts or tardies.
Students must be present 63% of the day to be counted present. This means any checkouts before 1:15 will count as an absence for that day.
"Parent Excuse Form" may be found on my webpage under "Documents."
The best way to contact me is through Class Dojo or this website. These methods allow me to respond quickly from within the classroom. I DO NOT check my school voicemail regularly throughout the day.
My website will be updated as needed. Daily information will be sent out via CLASS DOJO. If you have not signed up for CLASS DOJO, please do so as soon as possible. This is the most effective way for me to keep you up to date. Pizza Party for class when / IF 100% of parents sign up!
Please see that your child eats breakfast and remind your child to pack a snack and water each day. Please do not allow your child to bring candy or other highly sugary snacks. I will not allow them to eat them at 8:30 in the morning.
Lunch is $2.75. I will collect lunch money on Mondays and turn into the cafeteria if you would like to pay for the week. Otherwise, the children are responsible for keeping up with their own lunch money. Please consider using the online payment system www.mealpayplus.com You are more than welcome to come eat lunch with your child. Check in at the front desk and meet us in the cafeteria.
All transportation changes must be made in writing. I can not take transportation changes over the phone, email, DOJO, or text.
Please do not send your child to school sick. Please review the DCES PARENT HANDBOOK for our policy on sick children. I know it is an inconvenience, but please consider the well being of the entire class. I will call you to come pick up your child if they have not been fever or vomit free for 24 hours. I am a stickler on this!
