Week of March 23-27

Activity 1

I chose a biography for our first lesson. I believe we are all familiar with Jeff Kinney the author of the Wimpy Kid books. Read or listen to the Lightbox title The Cartoon World of Jeff Kinney and complete the Milestone (timeline activity) on page 20 of the book. You can reach the activity by clicking the pencil in the top left corner of the page. Enjoy the other interactive features of the book too!

Activity 2

Read a book from your bookshelf and create a timeline for the events in your book.

"I think if everyone would write down the funny stories from their own childhoods, the world would be a better place." Jeff Kinney

As a teacher-librarian, it is my mission to create an accessible and inviting library that supports the needs of students, staff, and parents of my school.  I will work to promote critical, responsible, and ethical users of information from print and non-print materials.  I will also work to foster a love of reading in DCES students to grow lifelong learners.

*Students visit the library once a week during their activity time.

*Early checkout is open every morning from 8:00 to 8:25.

Parents and Students,

I will be updating my website, so please check back often. It is essential during this time that we continue to stay engaged and read.

There are several options listed below in the library links. Destiny Discover is a great one to use from home because the students are very familiar with its use. We use it daily in the library. It houses our school's eBooks and Lightbox titles. Please take advantage of this program and keep the students reading!  The login information is listed below the link. If anyone needs an MSIS number, send me an email. There is also a Destiny app that you can download.

I miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon! Be sure to check back for future updates!
